North Shore Bank recently made a $5,000 donation to Northeast Arc’s Black Box Theater located at the ArcWorks Community Art Center in downtown Peabody. The Bank’s contribution will support the final stages of the Arc’s capital campaign to raise funds for the theater floor, finishing the lighting and sound system, purchasing a production lift and new signage.  With over $500,000 already raised, the project requires an additional $70,000 to reach its goal.

Susan Ring Brown, Northeast Arc’s Development Project Manager said:

North Shore Bank’s leadership team understood from the start that Peabody’s Black Box would be a place to bring the community together. Their early support helped us complete construction and today’s grant supports the final phase of the campaign to outfit the space.

Kevin M. Tierney, President and CEO of North Shore Bank stated:

We’ve always had great appreciation for Northeast Arc’s mission to serve those with disabilities, and over the years we’ve supported many initiatives that have enhanced both the economic vitality of the City and quality of life for its residents.” He continued, “We’re happy to partner with Northeast Arc and the City of Peabody in bringing this project to completion.

Opened in March of 2018, the theater is available for rental to performing arts groups and individuals, businesses and community organizations for special events. Because of its design, the space provides for flexible staging that many artistic groups can take advantage of. The theater in Peabody Square will provide educational and recreational opportunities for youth and adults of all abilities.
