Peabody, MA (www.northshore-bank.com) – North Shore Bank recently made a $1,500 donation to the Merrimac Playground Committee, an official Town committee, who is raising funds to construct Merrimac’s first public playground. The Playground Committee is an enthusiastic team of neighbors who share a common goal: to create a vibrant recreation area for the families in town.

Early this year, the committee reached out for support to as many individuals and businesses in the community as they could. Their financial goal was set at $80,000, which would pay for the equipment, safety surfacing, and installation for two phases of construction. The first phase of the construction was completed in October, while the second phase is expected to be finished in the spring of 2018.

Kathleen Philp, Co-chairwoman of the Merrimac Playground Committee said:

We are honored to be receiving this generous donation from North Shore Bank to help us achieve our goal of building Merrimac’s first public playground. This is another great example of how this local Bank consistently works to improve our neighborhoods for the children and families of our town.” She added, “It is because of the support we have received from our community throughout this project that we will all soon be able to enjoy this beautiful playground!

Aimee Martin, the Branch Manager of North Shore Bank’s Merrimac Branch said:

When we first heard of this wonderful project that the Town was planning, we knew that we wanted to be involved in any way we could.” She continued, “Now, the children and families in this community will be able to enjoy a fun, safe place to play, all through the committee’s hard work and love.
