PEABODY, MA — (www.northshore-bank.com) — According to the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, as of June 2017 there were 3,545 families with children in the Massachusetts’ Emergency Assistance Shelter Program. Recognizing a need, employees from North Shore Bank recently visited a number of local Food Pantries throughout the North Shore and Merrimack Valley to deliver turkeys for the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Kevin M. Tierney, North Shore Bank President and CEO said:

The holidays are not cheerful for everyone in our community, so we’re happy to do what we can to help make the season a little more festive for them.”  He added, “We’re just trying to help brighten the holiday season for those who are facing challenges during this time of year.

A total of 80 frozen turkeys were donated to food pantries in Beverly, Middleton, Peabody, Saugus, Merrimac, and Newton, New Hampshire. An additional donation was made to Debbie Marticio of Danvers, who has been serving Thanksgiving Day meals to those who are less fortunate, homeless, or just need a place to go for the holiday.

Citizens Inn, who recently merged with Haven from Hunger in Peabody, distributed dinners to over 350 households before the holiday, and also provided hot meals to an additional 200 guests on Thanksgiving Day.

According to Heather Johnston, Director of Donor Relations at Beverly Bootstraps:

We are so appreciative of the support of North Shore Bank. Their generosity helped over 500 local families that otherwise would not have been able to have a Thanksgiving meal.  Thank you, North Shore Bank for all you do for our community!
