North Shore Bank recently made a $2,500 donation to the No Child Goes Hungry in Peabody weekend backpack program. The initiative, which was the idea of Dennis and Michele Feld of Evans Flowers and Greenhouse in 2017, provides elementary students between first and eighth grade whose families qualify for free school breakfast and lunch, with backpacks containing enough food and snacks for the weekend.

Peabody School Committees Member, Jarrod Hochman said of the program:

Without the support of the entire community and their generous donations of backpacks, food, money, time and labor we would not be able to maintain this program and the City of Peabody would have at least 270 of its children hungry each weekend.” He continued, “We are so grateful for North Shore Bank’s support.

Kevin M. Tierney, President and CEO of North Shore Bank said:

When this program was first established, we realized that as a community bank we needed to get involved. Education and promoting the wellness of the children in our community have always been a priority for us.” He went on to say, “This citizen initiative helps not only the students but their entire family.
