Operation Troop Support the Latest Recipient of North Shore Bank Employee "Denim Dollars"

Peabody, MA ( North Shore Bank personnel stopped by the 16 Trinity Street, Danvers headquarters of Operation Troop Support recently and presented the group with a check for $1,100. The proceeds of this donation were raised by bank employees as part of their weekly “Jeans Day” program. Each month, employees designate a different non-profit organization, and in exchange for $5, they are allowed to wear jeans each Friday. The accumulated funds are then donated to the chosen organization at the end of each month.

In August, Operation Troop Support was nominated by the staff of the bank’s Danvers Office. According to North Shore Bank Asst. Vice President and Danvers Branch Manager, Mary Beth O’Connell:

“Over the past decade, Operation Troop Support has become such a fixture throughout the area — it was really only natural that we would think of them as a potential Jeans Day recipient.” O’Connell went on to say, “It’s pretty hard not to be inspired by the group’s commitment and we’re really gratified to be able to assist them in such a tangible way.”

Established in March 2003, Operation Troop Support (OTS) is a 501(c)(3) organization serving deployed men and women in uniform, as well as their loved ones back home. OTS offers a variety of programs ranging from the overseas distribution of care packages to the coordination of military family support groups to the supply of comfort items to military hospitals stateside and abroad. In fact since its inception the group has sent more than 500,000 packages to active-duty military personnel around the globe.

According to Richard Moody, Treasurer and Organization Founder:

“The timing of this contribution couldn’t have been any better, as it will help us defray some of the mailing costs that we will incur sending holiday packages to overseas troops.” said Moody, “Operation Troop Support relies on the ongoing generosity of individuals, schools, churches, civic groups and of course businesses like North Shore Bank.”
