PEABODY, MASSACHUSETTS (www.northshore-bank.com) – The committee for the 38th annual Peabody International Festival received a $10,000 contribution from North Shore Bank for their Title Sponsorship of this year’s event. Presenting the check to Peabody Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr. was North Shore Bank’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin M. Tierney, Sr. This donation from North Shore Bank will be used to help offset the costs associated with the festival, which will be held on Sunday, September 10th.

Founded in 1984 by Mayor Peter Torigian, today the International Festival is the largest festival of its kind. Dozens of civic organizations, nonprofits, local businesses, cultural groups, crafters and artisans line Downtown Peabody with delicious food and artwork inspired from places all around the world.

Mr. Tierney said of the festival and the Bank’s sponsorship:

This event celebrates the many cultures that make up the community. We applaud the Mayor, and all of those on the festival committee, for their hard work in pulling this year’s event together. We’re thrilled to once again be the title sponsor.

Mayor Bettencourt said of the Bank’s contribution:

We are very grateful to North Shore Bank for once again being the title sponsor of the International Festival. The Festival is our city's signature community event and North Shore Bank's very generous donation helps make it all possible.

The International Festival began with the simple goal of giving neighbors the opportunity to meet, while celebrating and appreciating each other’s culture. The festival continues to attract between 50,000 and 80,000 people to Peabody Square each September. Popular bands and performance groups entertain the crowd, and in addition to the all-day live entertainment the festival has an area dedicated to children, an Artisan Market and Galleria, and a beer garden.
