North Shore Bank recently presented the Burbank YMCA in Reading, a branch of the Greater Boston YMCA, with a $2,000 contribution. Of those proceeds, $1,500 was given by bank employees as part of their weekly “Jeans Day” program. The remaining $500 of the contribution was a Corporate donation to support the Greater Boston YMCA’s “Healthy Kid’s Day” campaign.

In exchange for $5 each week, the bank’s staff can wear jeans to work with the funds collected, pooled and then donated to a local organization. Through the Bank's Jeans Day program, it has raised over $80,000 for local non-profits and charitable funds since its inception.

Tom Seyffert, Branch Manager of North Shore Bank’s Reading branch located at 31 Harnden Street, said:

The YMCA has been a champion of healthy living for decades. We felt that with the money raised through our Jeans Day program we had a great opportunity to support the children and families in our community.
Scheduled for May 22nd this year, Healthy Kids Day is a free community event, with both virtual and “live” components, providing an essential service to communities by connecting families with activities and resources to help their children and teens stay healthy and resilient during these difficult times. Now in its 29th year, it is the largest event of its kind in the nation.
We are so proud to have community partners like North Shore Bank that have stepped up to support the work we are doing to support our community.  This funding we received will support families in our service area to participate in YMCA programs that may be struggling to regain their financial footing.” He continued, “This funding might send several kids to camp for the summer, or support an elder that doesn’t have the financial means to afford the critical health activities offered at our Y.  We simply couldn’t make this happen without great partners like North Shore Bank.
