Offered through Coastal Homebuyer Education, this comprehensive first time homebuyer course consists of several modules utilizing a learning dashboard. It’s designed for mobile use and allows attendees the convenience of leaving the course and later returning where they left off.
Required by many first time home buyer affordability programs, such as MassHousing, the MHP One Mortgage, and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston's Equity Builder​, course topics include:
- How much you can afford
- How to fix or improve your credit
- How to choose a real estate agent
- How to shop for the best mortgage loan
- Steps of the mortgage process
- Roles of the 10 professionals involved in most home purchases
- What to include in your offer
- Home inspection basics
- Steps of the closing process
Better yet, the course is available in both English and Spanish and includes downloadable guides, worksheets, and checklists that are great reference tools to use throughout the home buying process. Once the course is completed and an overall score of 80% is achieved, a Coastal representative will set up a one-on-one consultation, which will complete the process of getting your certificate. Please note that there is a low $75 fee to enroll in the online course, and an additional $25 fee for your one-on-one consultation. C
