Home Buying Seminars

In-Person Seminars to Begin Again in August

Loan to value ratios . . . points . . . escrow . . . PMI . . . to those new to the housing market, these terms can sometimes sound like a foreign language. Well fear not. At North Shore Bank we have you covered. We’ve partnered with Coastal Homebuyer Education, Inc., to offer a series of education programs that are designed to demystify the home buying process.  Offered on an ongoing basis, these programs feature topics like:

  • Obtaining a mortgage
  • Learning how to work with realtors
  • The importance of homebuyer inspections
  • The role of attorneys
  • How to purchase insurance
  • Special issues for condominiums and multi-family homes
Sessions feature guest speakers from a variety of professions (legal, insurance, real estate etc.) and even include North Shore Bank personnel, who will review the credit and borrowing process. Coastal Homebuyer Seminars are fast-paced, provide ample opportunity for questions and are appropriate for borrowers of all income levels. These workshops are also certified by Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA), the Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) and MassHousing . This is a particularly important distinction as completion of a first time home buying education program is often required by lenders as a precondition for obtaining a mortgage. There is a fee of $100 per household.
