North Shore Bank, in partnership with Harborlight Community Partners and the North Shore Association of Realtors® is offering online webinars to first time home buyers. These comprehensive, interactive courses will be led by the North Shore Association of Realtors, as well as members of North Shore Bank’s experienced mortgage team and industry experts. This course has received the CHAPA Homeownership Collaborative Seal of Approval. 
 
Graduates of the course will be given a certificate that allows access to MassHousing Partnership’s ONE mortgage, MassHousing mortgages, HUD mortgages, home ownership lotteries, lender first-time home buyer mortgages, and a variety of other mortgages through assisted and conventional lending sources. The certificate is accepted statewide for First Time Home Buyer education.

Course topics include:
 
  • How to know when you’re ready to buy
  • Understanding your credit
  • Choosing the right home and negotiating the contract
  • Why home inspections are important
  • Navigating the mortgage application and approval process
  • Long-term success as a homeowner
Subject to credit approval, once the First Time Home Buyer course is completed and the certificate is issued, North Shore Bank will provide those participants who apply for a loan though the bank with a closing cost credit of $750, which includes their regular First Time Home Buyer credit of $500. Please note that class participants are under no obligation to use the homebuyer counselors or any guest speakers for their services.

Classes will be held as live Zoom webinars. A webcam, microphone, and speakers are required to take this class.
