Peabody, MA (www.northshore-bank.com) — North Shore Bank has awarded two scholarships to recent Saugus High School graduates, Samantha Martin and Austin Flickinger. Each received $1,000 and will receive an additional $1,000 once their first semester is complete.

Ranked number two in her class, and named Salutatorian, Samantha Martin was a member of the National Honor Society, Literature Club, and Young Feminist Alliance. In addition, she was also a member of the MIT Leadership Training Institute, Track Team, Model UN, Youth Group, Dance Team, and Church Vestry. Along with her impressive student resume, she held a part-time job and volunteered more than 100 hours of community service. Samantha was accepted to the University of Nottingham in England, where she will major in Neuroscience. 

With a Grade Point Average of 3.75, Austin Flickinger was a member of the Golf, Ski, and Snowboarding Teams. Austin is the recipient of the Kimberly Rossi Memorial Scholarship, posthumously named in honor of Saugus High School graduate and Branch Manager of the Bank’s West Peabody office. This fall, Austin will be attending the University of Massachusetts Lowell where he will be studying Civil Engineering, with a minor in Business Administration.

Since 1987, North Shore Bank has awarded scholarships to deserving graduates. Award recipients are chosen by a committee of bank employees and are based on a combination of criteria, including academic achievement. This year’s Saugus High School Scholarship Committee was comprised of Carol Varone, AVP and Training Coordinator, Juliann Garland, Branch Manager of the Bank’s Hamilton Street, Saugus branch, Erin Riley, AVP and Branch Manager of the Bank’s Lynn Fells Parkway, Saugus branch.
