While in school, Alanna worked with children at the Creation and Learning Station Preschool, as well as Saugus Youth and Recreation Department sponsored Theatre, Music and More Program.

Ranked third in her class, Napoli was Class President, Treasurer of the National Honor Society, and Captain of the Varsity Field Hockey and Tennis teams. She was also a member of the Student Council, Math Club, Book Club, Science Club and Malawi Club.  In addition, Amanda received the 2016 Rotary Youth Leadership Award, 2017 Yale Book Award, and the 2017 Readers Make Good Leaders award. In her spare time, she has volunteered as a Peer Tutor at Saugus High School, a Donation Collector for the Jimmy Fund, and as a Fire Safety Volunteer for the Saugus Fire Department.  Amanda has been accepted to Boston College where she will major in Biology for a Pre-Med track.

Since 1987, North Shore Bank has awarded scholarship to Saugus High School graduates. Award recipients are chosen by a committee of bank employees and are based on a combination of criteria, including academic achievement. This year’s committee was comprised of Carol Varone, Assistant Vice President and Training Coordinator, Julie Garland, Sales and Service Manager in their Hamilton Street Branch, and Geoff Leahy, Assistant Vice President and Sales and Service Manager in the Lynn Fells Parkway Branch.

When asked about the program, North Shore Bank President, Kevin Tierney said:

“We are always so impressed by the quality of applicants, and these students were exceptional choices.”  He continued, “We look forward to the scholarship review process every year. It’s comforting to know, particularly with the high cost of education today, that we can provide some direct assistance to hard-working and deserving students.”
