NSB Employees Raise Money for NSCAP Fuel Assistance

North Shore Bank Employees Raise Money for the NSCAP Fuel Assistance Program

PEABODY, MA — (www.northshore-bank.com) In 2015 North Shore Bank instituted a weekly jeans day program with the main purpose of raising money for local non-profit organizations and charities. In exchange for $5 each week, employees are allowed to wear jeans to work. The funds collected are then pooled for the month and donated to an area charity nominated by the employees. Since its inception, the bank has raised over $46,000 which benefited 34 organizations throughout the North Shore and Merrimack Valley.

In January, $1,260 was raised by North Shore Bank employees to benefit the North Shore Community Action Program’s (NSCAP) Fuel Assistance Program, a platform that helps income eligible households pay their winter heating bills.

North Shore Bank President and CEO, Kevin Tierney, said:

“Through our Jeans Day initiative, we’ve been able to support many great area non-profit organizations.” He added, “With the record breaking low temperatures in the area earlier this year, dedicating a month to NSCAP’s Fuel Assistance Program made a lot of sense to us.”

The NSCAP program was created to help individuals and families stay warm and save money when winter cold arrives. For over 50 years, thousands of households in Salem, Peabody, Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Middleton and Topsfield have relied on NSCAP to help keep their home warm in winter.

Dan DeAngelis, Director of NSCAP’s Fuel Assistance Program said:

“New England winters can be harsh and rising energy costs make it harder to keep up with the cost of heating a home. Every year, NSCAP's Fuel Assistance program helps thousands of area residents pay their winter heating bills.” He continued, “That's why this generous donation from the employees or North Shore Bank means so much, since it will help members of our community stay warm and safe. On behalf of the all of us at NSCAP and those we serve, many, many thanks."
