North Shore Bank Sponsors the 16th Annual International Race for Research

PEABODY, MA — (www.northshore-bank.com) On Saturday, September 9th, downtown Peabody once again hosted the Annual International Race for Research, which included a 5K road race and a 2-mile fun walk. Sponsored by The Progeria Research Foundation (PRF) and its long-time partner North Shore Bank, the morning kicked-off with a rally at the city’s Leather City Commons on Lowell Street.

Kevin M. Tierney, Sr., President and CEO of North Shore Bank complimented PRF for their work and added:

"We are proud to once again be a part of this great event which raises money for an incredible cause. Thank you to everyone who has registered to come out to run and walk for this special organization.”

Progeria is a fatal, rapid aging disease that afflicts children, who die of heart disease at an average age of 14.  PRF’s mission is to discover treatments and the cure for Progeria and its aging-related disorders, including heart disease. 

Audrey Gordon, Esq., Director of Development for the Progeria Research Foundation thank North Shore Bank, and said:

“North Shore Bank has been the Race for Research major sponsor practically since its inception. We are so thankful for their steadfast commitment to children with Progeria.” She continued, “It was great to have President Tierney and several other North Shore Bank employees at the race too – such a wonderful display of company support and camaraderie at this community event!”

A sanctioned USATF race, awards were given out to the top finishers in 8 age categories for the 5K race, top 3 walkers to finish, and all kids.  Computerized timing for the runners was provided by North Shore Timing.
