PEABODY, MA - ( North Shore Bank recently presented River House Homeless Shelter in Beverly with a check for $1,700. The proceeds of this donation were raised by Bank employees as part of their weekly “Jeans Day” program. Each month, employees designate a different non-profit organization, and in exchange for $5, they are allowed to wear jeans each Friday. The accumulated funds are then donated to the chosen organization at the end of each month.

In March, River House was nominated by the staff at the Bank’s Beverly office. Christopher Palovich, North Shore Bank’s Beverly Branch Sales and Service Manager said:

“We recognize the struggles that many people are facing in this challenging economy, making the services provided by River House even more essential. Not only do they provide day to day needs, but also emergency programs as well as support in attainting long-term stability and independence.” He went on to say, “When we were considering an organization in our community to support for our Jeans Day effort, they were an obvious choice.”

Founded in 1999, River House was originally run by the City of Beverly through Beverly Bootstraps food pantry. On July 1, 2016 the merger of River House in Beverly and Lifebridge in Salem took place, addressing the issue of homelessness with a regional approach. By sharing resources, attention is given to where it is needed most, for supportive services and case management for homeless men and women in our community.

Kevin Nicholson, Director of Operations at River House said:

“This contribution from the employees at North Shore Bank means so much to all of us here at River House. Without these types of donations it would be very hard to provide the programs and services we offer to those experiencing homelessness.”
