PEABODY, MA — (www.northshore-bank.com) North Shore Bank recently presented the Northeast Animal Shelter of Salem with check for $1,500. The proceeds were given by bank employees during the month of July as part of their weekly “Jeans Day” program. In exchange for $5 each week, staff can wear jeans to work with the funds collected pooled and then donated to a local charity.
In addition to accepting locally surrendered pets, the shelter’s Savings Homeless Pets Across America program transports homeless pets from across the country to their shelter in Salem. The pets come from regions where spaying and neutering are not common practice, and abandoned, unwanted pets are over-abundant. Some of these pets need medical care – even life-saving surgeries.
North Shore Bank President and COO, Kevin Tierney related:
“As a community bank we’re always looking for ways to contribute to local causes. Many of our employees have pets that are beloved members of their family. It was just natural that our staff would want to raise money for such a great organization. We applaud their mission of rescuing these animals and finding loving homes for them, and we’re happy to make them part of our Jean’s Days fund raising."
According to Randi Cohen, Executive Director of the Northeast Animal Shelter:
“We’d like to thank the employees of North Shore Bank for presenting us with this every generous donation. We will put this gift directly towards the care of our pets.” She went on to say, “Last year we placed more than 4,400 homeless pets in loving, forever homes. If our dogs and cats could talk, they would join me in thanking everyone at North Shore Bank.”
About Northeast Animal Shelter
Northeast Animal Shelter, established in 1976, is one of New England’s largest non-profit, no-kill animal shelters. They have placed over 125,000 cats and dogs since they opened their doors. They are located just a half hour north of Boston and easily accessible to all of New England. Being open 7 days a week makes the adoption of a pet convenient for the general public and enables them to place all their homeless dogs and cats. As soon as a dog or cat arrives at their facility, the staff begins searching for the perfect match — a family who is just right and will give the pet a wonderful home. While waiting for a forever home, their dogs and cats receive the best of care. For more information on the Northeast Animal Shelter, visit www.northeastanimalshelter.org or call (978) 745-9888
