PEABODY, MASSACHUSETTS ( – North Shore Bank recently presented Northeast Arc with a check for $1,200.  The proceeds of this donation were raised by Bank employees as part of their weekly “Jeans Day” program.  Each month, employees designate a different non-profit organization, and in exchange for $5, they are allowed to wear jeans each Friday.  The accumulated funds are then donated to the chosen organization at the end of each month.

In May, Northeast Arc was nominated by North Shore Bank’s staff. Since 1954, Northeast Arc has been helping people with disabilities become full participants in the community, choosing for themselves how to live, learn, work, socialize and play. Services include autism support, residential, transition and employment support.

Kevin M. Tierney, Sr., President and Chief Operating Officer of North Shore Bank explained:

Northeast Arc has become such a fixture throughout the North Shore — it was really only natural that we would think of them as a potential Jeans Day recipient.” He went on to say, “It’s pretty hard not to be inspired by the group’s commitment and we’re really gratified to be able to assist.”

Northeast Arc Chief Executive Officer Jo Ann Simons said of North Shore Bank’s contribution:

“This donation from the North Shore Bank employees really means a lot to our organization.” She went on to relay, “The money will support our Annual Fund, which provides seed money for innovative services including the Journeys program.”
