Employee Donations at NSB Result in $1,400 Contribution to the Middleton Arts Association

PEABODY, MA — ( According to a recent nationwide study, conducted by the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, in 2014 organizations serving the arts received 0.037% of state general fund expenditures — less than one half of one tenth of one percent. This is unfortunate given the many positive, even transformative benefits that these organizations can provide to the residents of local communities. One such group, the Middleton Arts Association, recently approached North Shore Bank’s Middleton Branch, to ask about funding.

In response to their request, North Shore Bank recently announced the donation of $1,400 to the Middleton Arts Association. The proceeds were given by bank employees during the month of January as part of their weekly “Jeans Day” program. In exchange for $5 each week, staff can wear jeans to work with the funds collected pooled and then donated to an area charity.

Maria Silva, North Shore Bank Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager of the Bank’s Middleton office related:

“The Middleton Arts Association has such an incredible reputation in the town of Middleton. We’ve worked with them for many years, displaying their artwork in our branch and trying to help promote their organization.” She further related, “When we were considering organizations to support for our January Jeans Day effort, they were clearly at the top of our list and we’re thrilled to be able to assist them.”

The Middleton Arts Association is devoted to stimulating art in the community, fostering creativity and encouraging interest in the various fields of the arts. The organization is dedicated to focusing attention on the arts through a series of interactive demonstrations and art show events which are open to the public.

According to Carolyn Ruocco, Vice President of the Middleton Arts Association:

“We are both excited and grateful to receive this generous donation from North Shore Bank. The funds have enabled us to schedule a month-long art show at the Flint Public Library in September and October.” She went on to say, “Equally exciting is the establishment of the first annual Middleton Arts Artisan Fair, which is scheduled for the fall of 2017. We’ve been working toward creating an annual event and North Shore Bank’s donation will allow us to take a huge step towards accomplishing our goal.”
