Peabody, MA (www.northshore-bank.com) North Shore Bank personnel recently stopped by the Dane Street Playground in Beverly to present The Friends of Dane Street Playground with a check for $1,500 to go towards the renovation of the park. The proceeds of the donation were raised by bank employees as part of their weekly “Jeans Day” program. Each month, employees choose a different non-profit organization, and in exchange for $5, they are allowed to wear jeans each Friday. The accumulated funds are then donated to the chosen organization at the end of each month.
The Friends of Dane Street Playground is an enthusiastic team of neighbors who share a common goal: improving the playground currently located at Dane Street Beach. Committed to designing and installing a new, safe playground by encouraging and mobilizing the financial support of neighborhood groups, foundations and citizens, they hope to break ground shortly, with the aim of completing the project by the end of the summer.
With a goal of raising $200,000, their first large donation was made by the Isabella Rose Marino Endowment Fund, which was established in memory of the young daughter of The Friends of Dane Street Playground founder, Josie Marino, who said of North Shore Bank’s donation:
“We are honored to be receiving this generous donation from North Shore Bank and its employees to help us achieve our goal of rebuilding the Dane Street playground. This is another great example of how this local Bank consistently works to improve our neighborhoods for the children and families of Beverly. It is because of the support we have received from our community throughout this project that we will all soon be able to enjoy this beautiful playground!"
In February, The Friends of Dane Street Playground was nominated by the staff of the bank’s Beverly Office. According to Julieann Garland, North Shore Bank’s Beverly Branch Sales and Service Manager:
“When I saw what a wonderful thing Josie was doing in memory of her beautiful daughter Bella who loved this park, it was hard not to be inspired. Now, other children in this community will be able to enjoy it because of her hard work and love.”
