PEABODY, MASSACHUSETTS (www.northshore-bank.com) – North Shore Bank recently presented Citizens for Adequate Housing with a check for $1,200. The proceeds of this donation were raised by Bank employees as part of their weekly “Jeans Day” program. Each month, employees designate a different non-profit organization, and in exchange for $5, they are allowed to wear jeans each Friday. The accumulated funds are then donated to the chosen organization at the end of each month.
In October, Citizens for Adequate Housing was nominated by the staff. Steven Pettengill, Senior Vice President of the Bank’s Commercial Lending Division and also a Board member of Citizens for Adequate Housing said:
“We know the difficulties many families face in this challenging economic climate, making services provided by CAH even more critical. Not only do they provide day to day needs, but also programs which support families in attainting long-term stability and independence.” He went on to say, “When we were considering an organization to support for our Jeans Day effort, they were clearly at the top of our list”
Founded in 1983, Citizens for Adequate Housing, Inc. has been a leader in the fight to end homelessness, serving families from the North Shore and Eastern Massachusetts. Families facing an emergency need of housing have found a temporary home at the Inn Between shelter. Here families are supported as they work to end their homelessness. The Inn Transition shelter provides a sober-living transitional housing program supporting families as they continue to build on their sobriety, recovery and find permanent housing.
Corey Jackson, Executive Director of Citizens for Adequate Housing said:
“North Shore Bank employees have been so incredibly generous to us over the years. This contribution was well timed at the end of the year and helped us provide holiday meals for families experiencing homelessness.
