The Newton NH Food Pantry is the Latest Recipient of NSB Employee “Jeans Dollars”.

Peabody, MA (www.northshore-bank.com) In November, 2015 North Shore Bank and Merrimac Savings Bank announced the completion of their merger. The combined entity, operating as North Shore Bank, now operates out of twelve full-service branches in eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. North Shore Bank representatives recently attended a Newton, New Hampshire Board of Selectman meeting to present the community’s food pantry with a check for $1,000.

John Meserve, formerly President of Merrimac Savings Bank, thanked the Newton community for their support over the past 11 years.  He then introduced Kevin M. Tierney, Sr., President and Chief Operating Officer of North Shore Bank who explained:

“The proceeds of this donation were raised by bank employees as part of their weekly Jeans Day program. Each month, employees designate a different non-profit organization, and in exchange for $5, they are allowed to wear jeans each Friday. The accumulated funds are then donated to the chosen organization at the end of each month.”

Because of the merger between North Shore Bank and Merrimac Savings Bank, the employees chose to nominate a Newton organization as their Jeans Day recipient in November.

Tina O'Rourke, Welfare Agent for the town of Newton said:

“The Newton Food Pantry is maintained solely on donations, both of actual items and monetary. This very generous donation from the staff of North Shore bank will enable us to stock the shelves to help many in need in our community.  The Food Pantry helps families who are struggling financially - on behalf of those people, we are so thankful.”
