Zellen Receives Presidential Award

Peabody, MA ( — July 1, 2014 … David J. LaFlamme, President and CEO of North Shore Bank congratulates Michael F. Zellen, Vice President and CRA Officer of North Shore Bank for receiving the Presidential Award for Volunteer Service from the President of the United States, Barack Obama.  President Obama states in the award presented to Mr. Zellen that “Your volunteer service demonstrates the kind of commitment to your community that moves America a step closer to its great promise”.

Mr. Zellen has been involved in many civic activities and fraternal organizations for the past 46 years.  His volunteer services and activities include: The Friends of the Peabody Council on Aging; The City of Peabody’s Annual International Festival; The Mayors’ Downtown Peabody Committee, and he also served on the Peabody Zoning Board of Appeals for many years.  As a member of the Peabody City Council, Mr. Zellen served the Citizens of Ward 6.  Prior to moving to Peabody from Everett, he served on the Everett City Council and Everett School Committee.

He has also been an active member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks of the USA (BPOE) for over 45 years. The B.P.O. E invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and
drug-free, by undertaking projects that address unmet need, and by honoring the service and sacrifice of our veterans.
