The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest peer-to-peer fundraising event dedicated to saving lives from cancer. For over 35 years, communities across the world have come together to honor and remember loved ones and take action for lifesaving change. Funds raised through Relay For Life directly support breakthrough research, 24/7 support for cancer patients, access to lifesaving screenings, and so much more.

Jennifer Henderson, Assistant Manager of North Shore Bank’s Merrimac office got involved with the Haverhill Relay for Life after she was diagnosed more than 20 years ago, and she stayed with them long after her treatment ended. So, it was just natural that she would nominate the organization for NSB’s Jeans Day Dollars.
We are so grateful to the employees of North Shore Bank for choosing to support the American Cancer Society in our mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. It is the support from community partners like you that make our work possible.” She continued, “North Shore Bank’s incredibly generous donation of $1,000 to the Relay For Life of Greater Haverhill will go directly towards supporting our research, education, advocacy, and services for cancer patients and their families.

American Cancer Society Northeast Region

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. They have regional and local offices throughout the country to ensure there is a presence in every community.  Their Relay For Life is a movement, a community of like-minded survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and participants who believe that the future can be free from cancer. While fundraising might look different right now, the passion to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer is unchanged. When you participate in Relay For Life, you become a vital part of the American Cancer Society: a volunteer. You are then a part of an organization of 2.5 million survivors, patients, advocates, volunteers, caregivers, and researchers doing everything within their power to save lives. There are now more ways than ever for anyone, anywhere, to join the Relay community – virtually or in-person – and come together to connect, support, and fundraise to help save lives from cancer. About NSB's Jeans Day Program
On any given Friday, anyone visiting a North Shore Bank branch may be surprised to see that the usual pinstripe and wingtip garb has largely been replaced by blue jeans. That’s because the bank has instituted a weekly Jeans Day program whose purpose is to raise funds for area non-profits.  In exchange for $5 each week, employees can wear jeans to work while the proceeds collected are pooled for the month and then donated to an area charity that has been nominated by an employee. Since it's inception in April of 2015, bank employees has made 71 Jeans Day donations and  raised over $94,000.
