Our Customer Privacy Statement
Introduction
At North Shore Bank, we respect your financial privacy and comply with laws and regulations designed to secure that privacy. We will keep confidential any information about you, but may share information about you, as permitted by law, with affiliates, service providers and joint marketing partners in order to provide better products and service. "Information" means nonpublic, personal financial information. "Affiliate" is any company that controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with another company.
Information Collection
We may routinely collect or retain nonpublic personal information that includes (1) your name, address, telephone number, social security number, annual income, current and past employers; (2) information provided by you as answers to questions on applications or other forms; (3) transaction account experience with us, such as, deposit and loan balances, overdraft history and payment history; (4) information from consumer reporting agencies, such as, your creditworthiness and credit history.
We use some of the data we collect to maintain the security of your accounts and to protect the privacy of your financial information. We must be able to identify you and your accounts to prevent access by unauthorized individuals.
Safeguarding Information about You
North Shore Bank is committed to the security of your financial and personal information. Information that we have about you is available to our employees and agents on an authorized basis so that they can do their jobs in providing products and services to you. We prohibit our employees and agents from giving information about you to anyone in a manner that would violate any applicable law or privacy policy. We train our employees to protect information we have about you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.
We will not disclose your account number or access code for a loan account, deposit account or transaction account to a nonaffiliated third party in order for them to sell you products or services.
We are required to share your financial information with parties named in a lawsuit or administrative action when we are served with a subpoena or court order and with federal or state regulatory authorities, such as banking examiners, as authorized by law. Consistent with the practice of other financial institutions, we also share information about you and your accounts with reputable credit reporting agencies.
Information Sharing with Companies that Work for Us
We provide customer information we collect, as described above, to certain nonaffiliated companies that are our agents or service providers. We may contract with outside agents or service providers to help us perform necessary business functions or services, such as, preparing and mailing account statements, data processing, check printing or loan settlement services. In addition, we may share customer information with companies that work for us to provide marketing and other services or with other financial institutions with which we have joint marketing arrangements, such as brokers and dealers offering investment services. This sharing is permitted. These businesses agree to comply with our customer confidentiality requirements and must abide by applicable laws.
Accuracy of Information
We are committed to maintaining complete and accurate information about our customers, and we apply reasonable measures to ensure the accuracy of this information. If you think any information we have about you or your accounts may be incorrect, please notify us immediately. We will promptly update or correct any erroneous information.
Summary
We want to assure you that we carefully try to limit the use and collection of customer information to what is necessary to conduct our business, provide good customer service and offer opportunities we think would be useful to you.
