PEABODY, MASSACHUSETTS, December 5, 2006 … Local dignitaries joined representatives of North Shore Bank recently for a traditional groundbreaking ceremony signaling the start of construction of the Bank’s new three-story Corporate Headquarters and branch office at 248 Andover Street (Route 114) in Peabody.

Among those wielding symbolic shovels at the early morning event were North Shore Bank Chairman Gary F. Cowles; Director David L. Ankeles; Chief Executive Officer Francis J. McCormack; President and Chief Operating Officer David J. LaFlamme; and Chief Financial Officer George J. Sophinos. Mayor Michael J. Bonfanti; City Council President Michael F. The new 15,000-square-foot North Shore Bank building will house the Bank’s Commercial Banking Division, as well as Administrative and Executive Offices. A branch office will be located on the ground floor and drive-up banking will also be available. The building was designed by DRL Associates, Inc., Architects. The contractor is TLT Construction Corp.

According to McCormack, the present Peabody Square Banking Office at 32 Main Street will continue to serve as North Shore Bank’s Main Office. It will also house the Bank’s deposit and loan operations, information technology, and training functions.

Mayor Bonfanti complimented North Shore Bank on its decision to build its Corporate Headquarters in Peabody, where the Bank has been based since 1888. He also acknowledged the Bank’s strong record of service to the Peabody community, as demonstrated by the Bank’s outstanding CRA record.
