NSB Teams Up with School on Wheels
Peabody, Massachusetts - North Shore Bank, along with School on Wheels Massachusetts, participated in a very special project to help collect school supplies for homeless children on the North Shore. School on Wheels is an organization that educates children impacted by homelessness by providing academic support and one-on-one mentoring so children can reach their full potential. The Bank asked the community to provide academic consistency and hope to these children by donating back packs and new school supplies to the program.
According to School on Wheels Massachusetts, the average age of a person experiencing homelessness in Massachusetts is 8 years old. And, there are 48,000 children experiencing homelessness enrolled in Massachusetts Public Schools.
North Shore Bank's eight branch locations were designated as drop off areas for donations. In addition to collecting the school supplies, North Shore Bank made an initial donation of 50 back packs. Contributions from the community were collected in specail bins at each of the bank's branch offices throughout August.
David LaFlamme, North Shore Bank's President and Chief Executive Officer said, "We're proud of our customers and employees for taking the initiative to help those children in our community who are facing challenges in their everyday lives. This is what being a community is about", LaFlamme continued, "helping your neighbors in difficult times."
Dina Dressler, North Shore Regional Director for School on Wheels Massachusetts said, "There is nothing like seeing the smile on a child's face when they go to school with their brand new back pack and school supplies. We couldnt' have done it without the support from the community and the wonderful support of North Shore Bank."
